Course Objectives:


  1. Describe the epidemiology of child abuse among the American populace
  2. Describe the predisposing factors for child abuse
  3. Identify the categories of child abuse
  4. Recognize clinical signs observable on child abuse victims
  5. Recognize clinical findings & conditions that mimic child abuse
  6. Recognize typical behaviors of child abusers in the healthcare setting
  7. Discuss the ethical & legal implications of child abuse for healthcare practitioners
  8. Describe the impact of child abuse situations on healthcare practitioners
